Because you were meant to make a difference, Average Advocate exists to give you a clear path to impact the world. If you feel overwhelmed and don’t know where to start, but want to live a significant life, stick around and stay awhile.

From Average to Advocate – A World Changers Path

There are three stages most individuals go through in the process of becoming a world changer. Unfortunately, most of us skip one stage or another, and have to go back to the beginning. Even as life seasons change, we are triggered by events, and/or we embark on new world-changing ventures, we can find ourselves going through this process again and again!

Stage 1: Transform & Become

This stage is characterized by getting our lives in order as we remove hindrances. Part of it is looking at the core of what we believe, because if we don’t believe we can or should make a difference, we won’t.

But it also involves going back into our past and confronting “triggers” or lies we believe about ourselves, God and the world. For example, if our identity is tied up in what we accomplish, then we will never be satisfied and push ourselves to death.

Importantly, we also have to figure out how to manage our current life. If we don’t know how to say “no” (a problem most world-changers struggle with) or have no margin in time, money, or energy, how can we really expect to give of ourselves and give generously without burning ourselves out?

Stage 2: Identify & Define

This stage can be really fun. Here we focus on really getting to know yourself, what makes you tick, what makes you come alive and why you do what you do.

Through assessments and discovering your best self, you can begin to pull out what your priorities are. As you start to look towards the future, you can begin to lay out a vision for who you want to become.

Stage 3: Live & Love

This is usually where we start–trying to do all the good things! But you will feel much more fulfilled changing the world after you’ve intentionally began working on the first two stages.

This is where we learn how to make a difference and really live a life of love. We don’t have to impact the world because we have a savior complex or to make ourselves feel better. By the time we get to stage three, and are really taking vision and making it into world-changing reality, we want to do it because we are motivated by sincere love.

And with that sincere love, we live out vision. We create non-profits and social good businesses. We change policies, bring people clean water, care for widows, orphans, and restore victims of injustice and laugh with those who used to seem so different from us.

Discovering your best way to change the world

Where does this “clear path to become a world changer” originate?

The path we use at Average Advocate has been pieced together from Elisa’s fifteen+ years of leadership experience, lay counseling, and mentoring (often on world-changing projects). Thankfully, though, Elisa doesn’t live in a bubble. Considering, it also comes from all the wisdom and expertise that has been poured into her from her own mentors, guides, books and classes.

As a disclaimer, this isn’t stamped “professional” through PHDs and quantifiable statistics. Rather, this clear path to advocacy was pieced together from the stories of every day people who found they were meant to make a difference and discovered their best fit to change the world (that is, until they found a new best fit in a new season of life, and began changing the world there).

This path to becoming a world changer is constantly being updated for better effectiveness. After all, as our goal is to help you live out the difference you were meant to make so we want to continually be improving ourselves as we give you guidance!
